About

Samer is a doer, maker, thinker, explorer and concept artist. He approaches work and play with curiosity and experimentation, using his creativity to design environmental concept art for video games – amongst other cool things that connect with people.

If you pay close attention, you’ll see him in the crowd at that pinnacle moment when Rafiki held Simba to the sky at the edge of a cliff. Just kidding. He wasn’t there. He was likely doing kickflips on his skateboard in some parking lot or crushing fellow gamers playing Halo online.

As a kid growing up in Calgary, Alberta, Samer spent a lot of his time with a pencil in hand sketching the stuff comic book dreams are made of. Later on, he moonlighted as a drink-slinger at a local watering hole, completed an apprenticeship as a tattoo artist, attended ACAD (Alberta College of Art & Design) and fell in love with all things digital art, which as you may have guessed, is where his true passion lies today.

One could say Samer’s claim to fame is a comic book he wrote and digitally painted a comic book series called Gods of the Universe. As a die-hard on the comic convention circuit, his inspiration for the work stemmed from his time spent on Artist Alley. Samer even did a stint as the lead for Social Anxiety – a peer group focused on publishing comic books.

Although he’s no longer fueled by copious amounts of Red Bull energy drinks, Samer’s focus is stronger than ever and his work speaks for itself. When he’s not designing his days away, you can find him co-piloting life with his super-supportive, uber-ambitious entrepreneurial wife, Janna and their toddler, while eagerly anticipating the arrival of their newest family member in September.
